Assistive technology fascinates me because it gives opportunities for people with disabilities to lead a more productive and independent life. I learned through this video that if a child is exposed to the technology at an early age the quicker they master it. I also learned that there are various ways to determine how to access the device like a nod, a touch of a finger, or the wink of an eyebrow, so it will be convenient for the students to learn. When I create lesson plans I would have to accommodate learners with assistive technology, I would first need to be familiar with what equipment they are using. For example, students that use mobility such as the wheelchair, I can accommodate them by having them sit next to the door. The video helped me to think differently because it made ponder if Guam has assistive technologies in the Department of Education because I have never seen a person use assistive technology in the school system. I know in class we mentioned Guam System for Assistive Technology (GSAT) and how it helps provides certain tools for the classroom. I hope to visit GSAT to see what technologies they have to offer for Guam.
